There is no single day trading internships open: last season, half of the 10 firms with an opening on record opened between 1 August 2025 and 14 October 2025, a quarter of them before and a quarter after.

A summer trading internship runs nine to twelve weeks at the firms whose careers sites we checked, and the off-cycle internships we checked run three to six months.
J.P. Morgan's Markets Summer Analyst program lasts nine weeks and begins with five days of orientation and classroom training. IMC's Chicago Quantitative Trader Intern runs 10 weeks. Jane Street's internships typically run 10 to 12 weeks between May and September, and it also offers off-cycle internships, based on academic scheduling, at each of its offices. Barclays' Sales, Trading and Structuring off-cycle internship in London lasts three to six months, as does J.P. Morgan's Markets Seasonal Analyst program, held in specific European locations during the academic year.

J.P. Morgan's Markets Summer Analysts sit on a sales or trading desk or research a sector, with mentors, a speaker series and regular trading simulations. Jane Street's trading interns take classes on financial products, trade in teams on a scenario its traders build, and some research ideas for the trading desk. IMC's Chicago trading interns have classroom training in options theory and work with traders and technologists on real projects.

Barclays' Sales, Trading and Structuring off-cycle internship in London takes students in the penultimate or final year of a degree in any discipline. IMC's Chicago Quantitative Trader Intern takes current university students graduating between September 2027 and July 2028 in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, computer science or economics.

A trading internship can lead to a full-time offer at the firms whose careers sites we checked, and each words it as possible on performance, not certain.
J.P. Morgan says top-performing Markets Summer Analysts may receive an offer of continued employment with the firm. IMC says interns who meet its performance expectations can secure a full-time Graduate Trader position at the end of the program. J.P. Morgan's Markets Seasonal Analysts, depending on performance, may be offered a place on its summer internship program.
