SEB runs an identical four-stage selection for both the International Trainee Programme and the Tech Trainee Programme: psychometric tests, interviews (digital and/or on-site), a case exercise with presentation, and a closing "SEB Day" event covering the firm and the programme. Candidates are recruited into a specific role at the bank from day one, so the case and final stages are run by the receiving team rather than a central programme office. The loop runs from early November through mid-January for a September start, meaning a candidate is sitting psychometrics and preparing a role-specific case across December exam season — not a process to begin in the final week before the deadline.

• Tech Trainee Programme — six months, starts early September, recruits across Sweden and the Baltics, with primary tech hubs in Sweden and Lithuania
• CIB Summer Internship — ten weeks in Stockholm, mid-June to late August, across IB Equity Capital Markets, FICC Sales (incl. derivatives, credit, quant), Legal and other Corporate & Investment Banking teams
• Tech Summer Internship — June to August, on-site in Stockholm throughout
• Investment Banking Internship — ten weeks, two intakes per year, work in Corporate Finance, Corporate Finance Growth, or Debt Financing Solutions
• Sustainable Banking Summer Internship — summer, in the sustainability transformation team
• Thesis Work and Summer and Part-Time Work for shorter student engagements

These tracks do not run on a single shared cycle: the International Trainee intake is biennial, the Investment Banking Internship runs twice a year, and the various summer programmes open between September and late January depending on track. A candidate who misses the International Trainee window typically waits two years for the next cohort rather than the next autumn.

The two trainee deadlines fall in the same week, so an applicant targeting both is running two structured applications and a single round of psychometrics inside one early-January window. The Tech Summer Internship opens about a week later, which leaves roughly three weeks to apply once the trainee submissions are in.

The International Trainee Programme runs only every other year — the 2026-27 intake is followed by 2028-29, not an annual refresh — and successful trainees are placed into a specific role at the bank from day one, with the nine-month programme structure (rotations, business challenge, a four-week internship at another international SEB site) running alongside that role rather than ahead of it. The Tech Trainee Programme recruits across Sweden and the Baltics, with primary tech hubs in Sweden and Lithuania, which is unusual among the Nordic banks — many treat the Baltic pipeline as an in-country local-hire channel rather than a route into Stockholm-anchored programmes. These two structural choices change who fits: the biennial cadence rewards candidates who can plan against a two-year horizon, and the Baltic tech track opens a Nordic-bank graduate route that students at Vilnius or Riga universities will not find at most peers.
