A candidate is choosing among fourteen distinct business-line tracks rather than a one-size scheme, so the practical first step is narrowing to the division whose work matches the candidate's interest before applying to any specific posting.

Recruiting timing also differs by division: the firm publishes that CIB summer applications open in January, while non-CIB summer roles open in June–July of the same year. For a candidate weighing several US universal banks, the practical question is less whether the firm hires for the role than which of the fourteen tracks fits – and, for a CIB applicant, whether they can build a competitive submission in the early-year window that closes on a rolling basis.
