The ten-week-to-eleven-month internship range means Citi is running both classic summer internships and longer rotational placements at the same time. A candidate whose academic calendar is out of phase with the conventional summer window has a route in here that summer-only programs at peer banks do not provide.

Citi's US summer analyst postings state explicitly that applicants "do not require sponsorship for U.S. work authorization now or in the future"; its US early-career programs are therefore closed to candidates who would need H-1B or comparable employer-sponsored work authorisation. Citi is separately a licensed Skilled Worker sponsor on the UK Home Office register, and its UK summer analyst and graduate roles are open to candidates who will need sponsorship in the UK. The geography is the gate: a candidate who needs sponsorship is choosing between Citi's London or other UK / EMEA desks and a different firm, not between Citi's UK and US offices.
