Candidates are given time to prepare each HireVue question and at least one chance to re-record, and the firm aims to give an update within two weeks of the final interview. Experienced hires follow a "more tailored approach that includes multiple interviews with the team the candidate is applying with." The HireVue gate is front-loaded: a recorded round comes before any live conversation, so a candidate has to do their preparation before knowing who in the team will watch it.

Piper Sandler publishes its student programs across the U.S. and the U.K.:

• U.S. – Investment Banking Analyst & Associate Program plus separate internships in Equities, Fixed Income, Public Finance and Corporate Support; IB Summer Analyst seats sit in Birmingham, Boston, Burlingame, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, Richmond and San Francisco.
• Minneapolis HQ – Career Exploration Program (CEP), a two-day insight for sophomores that feeds the following year's Summer Analyst class.
• London – three-day Spring Week for first-year (three-year degree) or second-year (four-year degree) students; a nine-to-ten week Summer Analyst Programme; off-cycle internships.
• Aberdeen – twelve-month Student Placement in the energy & power corporate finance team, starting in summer.

The split has practical consequences: the U.S. funnel runs CEP into the following year's IB Summer Analyst class a full year in advance, while the U.K. forces a choice between a year-long Aberdeen placement, a three-day London insight or a London summer position, each on its own application timeline.

A non-U.S. applicant therefore cannot assume a default policy and should treat work authorization as a screening question before applying; the Aberdeen wording in particular puts the cost and timing of any UK visa on the candidate, which narrows that placement to applicants already eligible to work in the United Kingdom at the summer start.

The firm reports ranking No. 1 in U.S. bank M&A by number of announced deals in 2025 and No. 1 in Med-Tech M&A advisory by sell-side, buy-side and cross-border deal count, with advisory revenues up 28% over 2024 against $101 billion in announced advisory transactions (SEC FY2025 Annual Report). A summer-analyst seat here is therefore deeper in middle-market M&A – particularly healthcare/Med-Tech and financial-services banking – than in capital-markets origination, and the Minneapolis HQ plus CEP feeder pipeline mean the early-career centre of gravity sits outside the New York campus-recruiting axis.
