Point72 runs two named early-career training pipelines, structured through its Academy for discretionary equities and through Cubist for systematic strategies:

• Point72 Academy Summer Internship: eight weeks during a student's final summer of university, leading into the full-time program
• Point72 Academy Full-Time Program for Upcoming Graduates: ten months of paid investment-analyst training, then placement onto a fundamental equities investing team
• Cubist Quant Academy: year-long rotational program for MS or PhD candidates in quantitative disciplines, rotating across systematic trading teams from market data and research through portfolio construction, execution and post-trade analysis
• Investment Services internships across technology, finance, compliance and operations

The 2025 global intern class numbered over 200 from 80 universities, hosted across New York, Stamford, London, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore, with more than 100 interns in the Long/Short Equity Academy alone. A candidate choosing between these is making a discrete bet – discretionary equities through the Academy, systematic through Cubist – each with its own training arc and full-time pathway, and the two tracks are not interchangeable applications.

The structure is a defined three-step pipeline: an eight-week summer internship in a student's final summer, then a ten-month paid full-time training program covering idea generation, accounting and modeling, market forces, data analysis and AI, then placement onto a fundamental equities team. Cubist runs a separate Quant Academy, launched five years on from the Point72 Academy, that mirrors this for systematic strategies with a year-long rotational program covering the full trade life cycle. For an early-career candidate, the practical implication is that an offer here comes paired with a defined training arc and an internal placement step at the end – closer in shape to an investment-bank graduate scheme than the direct-to-desk hire typical at most hedge funds.
