For the Global Investment Banking US Analyst Internship, the firm publishes a more specific cycle: applications open in late December for two weeks, phone and campus interviews run in January and February, and Super Days are held in late February. The IB loop therefore concentrates into about two months in midwinter, overlapping with the Super Day windows at other middle-market banks, so candidates running the season generally prepare for several in parallel.

Baird runs three named internship streams:

• Firmwide Intern Program: full-time over summer (typically late May to mid-August), with year-round variants in some teams, across more than 75 US offices and over 300 placements annually; rising sophomores and juniors are the firm's stated target.
• Global Investment Banking Intern Program (US): 10 weeks for undergraduate analysts, with a parallel associate stream for first-year MBA students; onboarding in Chicago or Milwaukee and seats in Charlotte, Houston, New York, and Tysons Corner.
• Global Investment Banking Intern Programme (Europe): a 10-week London Summer Internship (July–September), a 6-month London Off-Cycle Analyst Internship (January–June or July–December), and a 3-month Frankfurt Quarterly Analyst Internship on rolling applications.

The firmwide and IB streams absorb several hundred interns between them; for a candidate, the choice is between a broad firmwide cohort that includes Private Wealth Management, Asset Management, and Equities and a narrower IB analyst track with its own application window.

The European GIB Programme takes a different line – visa requirements are assessed during application review and sponsorship is considered case by case. The gate is hard on the US side: a non-citizen targeting an analyst seat applies through London or Frankfurt, not Chicago, Milwaukee, or New York.

The Global Investment Banking practice is middle-market focused, with a particular reputation for industrial-sector coverage. Headcount is Milwaukee-weighted: more than half of the firm's 300+ annual intern placements sit in Milwaukee, with smaller seats in Chicago, Charlotte, Houston, New York, Tysons Corner, London, and Frankfurt, and intern-to-full-time conversion runs around 45%. A candidate choosing Baird is choosing middle-market industrials coverage and an employee-ownership model over the deal-size scale of a bulge-bracket bank.
