First-round interviews are typically conducted over the phone with junior members of the business area applied to; final-round interviews are with more senior business members and may be virtual or in person, mixing competency and technical questions, with a case study in the final round for Investment Banking and Global Markets. Because applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and Nomura caps each candidate at one program per recruitment cycle globally, the loop is a single concentrated bet – submitting late means competing against everyone who applied earlier in the window, with no fallback to a second region or division in the same cycle.

Nomura's globally run programs span the Americas, Europe, and Asia excluding Japan (AeJ) across Investment Banking, Global Markets, Technology, and Corporate Functions:

• Summer Internship: 10 weeks in the Americas (New York, San Francisco; Jun–Aug); 9 weeks in Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Zurich) and AeJ (China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Taiwan).
• Off-Cycle Internship (Europe): 3–6 months, year-round; in AeJ, a 9-week Global Markets off-cycle (Feb–Apr) and a 6-month CDO off-cycle (Jan and Jul starts).
• Industrial Placement (Europe only): 12 months, June start.
• Spring Insight Programs (EMEA only): 1–2 weeks in April, for first-year students on a three-year UK degree or second-year on a four-year degree.
• Apprenticeship (EMEA only): 12–24 months across Corporate divisions including Technology and HR.
• Full-Time Graduate Analyst: July start across regions, filled predominantly through intern conversion.

Internships are explicitly non-rotational – each is a direct-to-desk placement in one division for the duration – and Nomura accepts only one application globally per recruitment cycle, so picking format, region, and division is the first real decision in the season rather than something to explore mid-internship.
