At the firms whose Australian pages we checked, summer internships start in November or January, in the university summer break, and run four to ten weeks; a round is named by both its years, as in 2026/27.
CommBank's 2026/27 Summer Intern Program runs 10 weeks, from November 2026 to January 2027, and its Global Markets Summer Analyst Program runs from 23 November 2026 to 29 January 2027. Deloitte calls its full-time paid internship of four to eight weeks the Vacationer Program, and says it starts in November or January depending on the business area.

Applications for Australian summer internships open months before they start: for the 2026/27 summer, Deloitte and CommBank took them between February and September 2026, and EY reviews them on a rolling basis.
Deloitte says applications for its Vacationer Program open in February or March, and in July for new or remaining roles. CommBank's page gives 15 June to 13 July 2026 for its Global Markets Summer Analyst Program and 12 August to 8 September 2026 for its Summer Intern Program. In our record a season runs from 1 June, and since 1 June 2026 62 of the 71 firms we follow in Australia have posted internships.

At the firms whose Australian pages we checked, summer internships are for students in the penultimate year of their degree, which for the 2026/27 round means graduating in 2027.
CommBank takes undergraduate and postgraduate students in their second last year with an overall credit average of 65 WAM or GPA, or 70 for Technology: Engineering and Cyber Security, and says its Summer Intern Program can lead to early entry into the next year's Graduate Program; its Global Markets Summer Analyst Program does not. Deloitte's Vacationer Program, for students graduating in 2027, is designed as a pathway into its Graduate Program. EY's, also for students graduating in 2027, says those who stand out may be offered a permanent graduate role after graduation.
