Each US firm opens on its own calendar, and our record dates the 2026–27 season, which recruits for summer 2027, from 1 June 2026.
Since then 581 of the 715 firms it follows have posted, and 84 of those are no longer listed. Last season, half of the 22 firms with an opening on record opened between 29 August 2025 and 20 January 2026. A quarter of them opened before that and a quarter after.

At Bank of America, Capital One and J.P. Morgan, a summer internship in the US typically runs nine or ten weeks.
Bank of America says its internships typically last ten weeks, and Capital One's internship programs run 10 weeks. Capital One's Analyst Early Internship Program runs from June to August at its McLean, Virginia office. J.P. Morgan's Investment Banking Analyst Program runs nine weeks and starts with five days of orientation and classroom instruction.

Each firm sets its own rule by degree and class year, and most summer internships at the firms we checked are for students a year from graduating, with Capital One's early program the exception.
Bank of America's internships are for students in the year before their final year of university who aim to start full-time the following year. Capital One's internship page points students earning a bachelor's degree by August 2028 to its 10-week programs, and its Analyst Early Internship Program is designed for second-year undergraduates. PwC says its winter internships are typically completed one year before graduation.

Yes: some US firms hire interns for winter and spring terms as well as the summer, among them PwC and Tesla.
PwC's winter internships run January to March or April, during the audit and tax busy season, and need full-time availability Monday to Friday. Tesla expects its Winter/Spring 2027 interns to start full-time on site around January 2027 and stay through a term ending around May 2027.
