Summer internships in Sydney fall in the Australian summer: the firms' own pages give starts in November or January, and name each round by both its years, as in 2026/27.
CommBank's Summer Intern Program runs 10 weeks, from November 2026 to January 2027. Deloitte calls its round the Vacationer Program, a paid internship of 4 to 8 weeks that may start in November or January depending on the business area. ANZ's 2027/28 AU Summer Intern program, in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, is paid, runs eight to ten weeks and commences in November 2027.

When do applications for summer internships in Sydney open?
Each firm sets its own window, months before the internship starts: for 2026/27, Grant Thornton took applications from 20 July to 14 August 2026, and CommBank from 12 August to 8 September 2026.
Deloitte says it opens applications twice a year, in February/March and in July. CommBank held its assessment centre from September to October 2026, ahead of a November start.

Who can apply for a summer internship in Sydney?
On the firms' pages we checked, a Sydney summer internship is for students in their penultimate year: CommBank asks for the second last (penultimate) year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Deloitte's Vacationer Program is for penultimate-year students graduating in 2027 and ready to join its Graduate Program in 2028, and Grant Thornton's 2026/2027 vacation program took students in their final or penultimate year. CommBank says its interns could secure early entry into next year's Graduate Program, and ANZ says its 2027/28 program may lead to an early offer for its 2029 Graduate Program.
