The Summer Analyst Program

The Jefferies’ Equities Sales & Trading Summer Analyst Program offers participants a unique opportunity to gain insight into a global, client-focused investment bank within an entrepreneurial environment where employees can make an immediate impact and are rewarded for performance. You will be exposed to Jefferies’ full range of products and leading industry expertise. This position focuses on real-life, on-the-job learning, with colleagues serving as instructors and mentors. Furthermore, Summer Analysts will receive detailed performance feedback at various stages of the program, in addition to at the end of the term.

Eligibility: Students in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date between October 2027 and July 2028 may apply.

Jefferies Equities Sales & Trading

Our Equities department is a significant provider of liquidity, execution, and underwriting expertise. Summer Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate across different divisions of our Sales & Trading platform, including Research Sales, Derivatives, Prime Services, Electronic Trading, and Desk Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Prime Services Sales & Trading team by servicing hedge fund, asset manager, and institutional clients across financing, execution, and platform solutions.
• Monitor client portfolios, financing positions, margin utilization, and trading activity, while assisting with trade lifecycle management, reconciliations, and exception resolution.
• Analyze client activity, financing trends, and market developments to identify business opportunities and contribute to client discussions, reporting, and market updates.
• Partner with teams across trading, operations, risk, legal, onboarding, and technology to facilitate client activity and ensure seamless service delivery.
• Build and maintain analytical tools, dashboards, and automated processes using Excel, VBA, Python, Power BI, or similar technologies to enhance desk efficiency and reporting.
• Develop an understanding of Prime Services products, client workflows, market structure, and regulatory developments affecting institutional investors.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.6 (or equivalent), and progress toward an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated interest in financial markets, Prime Services, hedge funds, and institutional client businesses.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI, or other data analysis tools is considered an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, intellectually curious, and motivated to continuously learn and seek feedback.
• Fluency in Mandarin is beneficial; additional Asian language capabilities are considered advantageous.
