Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $85,000.00 and $110,000.00. The specific salary offered will be based on an applicant’s qualifications, experience, and an analysis of current compensation in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Treasury Customer Section Co-Chief, Global Markets and Treasury Department Americas Division-Marketing Group, the Sales Analyst provides support for marketing and customer support functions.

Scope

Within the Global Markets and Treasury Department Americas Division-Marketing Group, the Sales Analyst role is transaction oriented and typically has limited participation in strategic decision-making. The role consults in both English and Japanese with senior management on complex transactions and related issues.

Role Objectives and Responsibilities

• Comply with all FRB, State, and Federal regulations.
• Service SMBC’s FX and Money Market customers in North America, Japan, and Latin America as needed.
• Interact with customers to understand their needs and concerns and communicate feedback to the desk; increase the frequency and substance of client communications with the business (conference calls and in-person meetings).
• Coordinate with other SMBC departments, including Corporate Banking, Settlement and Operations, Tax, and Legal, to ensure high-level communication and collaboration in both English and Japanese.
• Transact Money Market and FX transactions via phone, email, and e-platforms.
• Support colleagues as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Work experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience in Financial Services, Banking, Trading, and/or Lending preferred.
• Education: BA/BS (or equivalent experience) in Finance or Economics.
• Language fluency required: English and Japanese.
• Functional knowledge and understanding of U.S. regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income products, including technical analysis.
• Knowledge of global economic releases, market movement, market flows, and economic impact.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with customers, traders, and colleagues in both English and Japanese.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and appreciation for the need for follow-up.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Work Model and Accessibility

SMBC employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides an opportunity to work from home and from an SMBC office.
