The UK Institutional Sales team is a dynamic group within MSIM’s Global Sales force, responsible for institutional relationships across Corporate & Local Authority Pension Funds, Insurance companies, Family Offices, Charities, Endowments, and Foundations. This role requires strong teamwork while demanding a high degree of independence due to frequent client-facing travel.

Placement Details

The Off-Cycle Internship is an opportunity to experience the Investment Management Division by taking on responsibilities similar to those of a Full-time Analyst for a short duration.

  • Commencement: January 2027
  • Duration: Typically 6 months

This internship offers an exciting and dynamic work environment where you will work alongside diverse, experienced professionals on varied and interesting projects.

Training Program

Interns will receive comprehensive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of key projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior sales professionals in preparing client pitches, presentations, due diligence materials, and RFP responses for major UK institutional investors.
  • Liaise with internal investment and specialist product teams to gather crucial insights, market commentary, and investment content for client meetings and proposals.
  • Gain direct exposure to institutional clients, including pension funds, insurers, charities, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of client events, conferences, roundtables, and thought-leadership initiatives.
  • Support client relationship management activities, including meeting preparation, managing follow-up actions, and maintaining accurate client records.
  • Respond promptly to client requests for fund information, performance data, due diligence materials, and market updates.
  • Conduct market research and industry mapping across the UK institutional investment landscape to identify potential business development opportunities.
  • Lead project-based initiatives aimed at improving team processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain sales pipeline reporting, CRM records, marketing distribution lists, and management information.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • Excellent academic record; must be a university graduate or able to commit fully to a 6-month full-time internship if currently studying.
  • Fluent in English, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong, keen interest in the fields of investment management and sales.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and numerical skills, with comfort working with large datasets.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, capable of efficiently managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A proactive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to be a team player, collaborating effectively with colleagues across the team, MSIM, and the broader organization.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
