Purpose of the Role
To participate in the day-to-day activities of the Markets division, providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.
Accountabilities
- Execute small research projects to support strategic decision-making; prepare presentations and reports to communicate research findings; collaborate with senior management to implement research findings for the global markets division.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and manage the deployment and launch of new products and services for the global markets division.
- Manage client relationships and provide customer service support to clients and customers under steadily decreasing supervision; respond to questions about products and services; process transactions.
- Manage the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support decision-making in the global markets division.
- Train and mentor junior colleagues.

As an Off-Cycle Analyst, you’ll start with intensive training to build skills and knowledge, then move to your desk as part of a structured programme that includes project-based work. The off-cycle programme provides more in-depth exposure to projects compared to summer internships, expanding your knowledge and skill in this role.
Through your desk assignments, you’ll develop a solid understanding of the global markets and strengthen your communication, quantitative, and analytical skills. You may:
- Research industries or products and report summary information to your team
- Monitor markets and help formulate trade ideas
- Perform analyses on fundamental and technical data
- Attend client meetings or calls with traders, salespeople, and research colleagues

Who We’re Looking For
- Be in your penultimate or final year of your degree in any discipline.
- Ideally have a keen interest in business or finance with curiosity to learn.
- Value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit (demonstrated through extracurricular activities).
- Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa.
- If you are not eligible for a skilled worker visa, you will be required to have your own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from your programme start date to your programme end date.
