2027 Summer Analyst - Global Markets (Sales and Trading)

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is a premier investment bank providing a focused set of products and services to institutions, corporations, governments, and high net worth clients in over 100 countries.

Interns gain hands-on experience within Global Markets and receive career-building mentorship. Each year, successful applicants are recruited into RBC’s London Global Markets business across multiple areas suited to the interests of driven and focused students.

Programme Overview

As a Summer Intern, you will rotate through key areas of the Global Markets function to develop insight into the responsibilities of a full-time Global Markets Analyst in Sales and Trading across both FICC and Equities. You will gain exposure to the operations of a major international investment bank and the practical experience needed to kick-start your career.

Learning and Responsibilities

During the programme, Summer Interns complete a variety of projects, which may include:

• Analysing client and market data
• Conducting research to formulate trade ideas
• Presenting your market views and investment solutions
• Shadowing team members to understand how various products and roles work together
• Developing and editing reports and presentations for senior management
• Supporting the functions that keep the firm operating at industry-leading levels
• Rotating across sales, trading desks, securitisation finance, structuring and risk solutions

Training and Development

You will be supported and developed throughout the programme, including:

• Classroom-based training covering commercial and industry knowledge
• Speaker Series with regular information sessions delivered by market professionals
• On-the-job training
• Buddy programme
• Networking and shadowing opportunities
• Social events with the wider 2027 Capital Markets cohort

You will receive regular, constructive feedback from your manager throughout your placement.

What We Look For

We are not prescriptive about your degree. Whether you’re a philosophy student or an engineer, we are more interested in an agile intellect, strong numerical and analytical skills, awareness of global economic issues, and genuine interest in international financial markets. Creativity, logic, interpersonal skills, and inner drive are all important.

Additional languages, especially European, are of interest but not a prerequisite for applying.
