2027 Fixed Income Division Industrial Placement / Summer Analyst Program (Hong Kong / Singapore)

Overview

In the Fixed Income division, we work in fast-paced and changing global markets to assess and manage risk, trade securities, manage relationships with clients, and structure and execute innovative transactions.

Internship Programs

The Fixed Income Division’s Industrial Placement and Summer Analyst Program is designed for undergraduate students who are required by their degree or able to participate in a 6-month or 10-week internship. Industrial Placement & Summer Analysts will receive on-the-job training, work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects, and build their skillsets in a dynamic and evolving environment. The programs feature a Senior Management Speaker Series, desk teach-ins, networking events, community service, performance reviews, and a robust mentorship program.

Industrial Placement

One-day orientation introducing the Firm’s businesses and insight into working at Morgan Stanley, followed by Sales & Trading division-specific training with daily market updates, business overviews, and foundational product and technical instruction.

Summer Analyst

Same introductory orientation and division-focused training as Industrial Placement, with program timing reflecting a 10-week internship schedule.

Role and Responsibilities

Sales

• Understand how a client base is developed and maintained; create investment ideas; learn how we sell and cross-sell the Firm’s products; represent the Firm when interfacing with clients on important business issues.

Trading

• Assist in generating trade ideas and analysis; support all aspects of the market-making and trade execution process, from providing research analytics on trades to relative value analysis.

Structuring

• Learn how to build valuation models to help issuers and investors optimize a transaction’s economics, and quantify sources of value and risk.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with expected graduation between October 2027 and July 2028.
• Interest in Finance: Demonstrated keen interest in finance and financial markets, particularly in fixed income.
• Analytical & Adaptable: Highly analytical and adaptable, able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment; collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Language: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an Asian language is preferred.

Internship Period

• Industrial Placement Program: 6 months between January and July 2027.
• Summer Analyst Program: 10 weeks between June and August 2027.
