Internship opportunities are based in Singapore.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • Are currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 to June 2028.
  • Can begin full-time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 and August 2028.
  • Are on track to achieve a minimum bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Are business proficient in English. Proficiency in any Asian languages will be a plus.
  • Can commit fully to the internship for the full program duration.

Private Strategies Intern (Special Situations Team)

In the Special Situations Team, the intern analyst will focus on underwriting and assist in sourcing, structuring, and executing transactions across various APAC jurisdictions, gaining exposure to all aspects of the investment process. The team has a flexible mandate to deploy capital for several funds across multiple asset finance sectors (both via assets and platforms) and with the flexibility to invest across the capital structure (private equity, public equity, mezzanine, senior debt, and structured finance).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite complex investments with meaningful total return opportunities within the Asset-Backed Finance space.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow models for potential investments and work on ongoing management and value maximization.
  • Prepare investment memos to be presented to senior portfolio managers and investment committees.
  • Assist with due diligence relating to new investments, including the formulation and review of business plans and coordination of legal, technical, and commercial underwriting.
  • Support financing activities for both new and existing investments, including evaluation of different financing options, legal coordination, and negotiation with lenders.
  • Conduct market research to identify new investment themes.

Qualifications

You’ll excel as a Private Strategies Intern if you:

  • Have a strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and investment finance.
  • Have skills in conducting research and basic financial modeling, and demonstrate natural intuition to make good judgments.
  • Are proactive in thinking about potential investment ideas.
  • Are a good communicator with strong written and oral presentation skills; are persuasive and credible.
  • Have a strong work ethic and integrity; are a team player that is proactive and self-motivated.
  • Can work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Preferred but not required: have experience in private equity, hedge fund, or investment banking internship.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and experience using emerging technologies and AI tools in your work or school projects to solve problems and drive better outcomes.

The PIMCO Internship Experience

  • The PIMCO Internship is a 10-week program that runs from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program.
  • Your supervisor, peer mentor, senior leaders, and team offer guidance and mentorship throughout the summer.
  • You will gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one, with training and resources that help build future-ready skills and make an impact from the start.
  • You’ll receive feedback at mid- and end-of-summer as part of a formal review process to keep you on the path to meeting your summer goals. You’ll also join a variety of cross-divisional education, networking, and social events.
