Eligibility

You’re eligible to apply if you:

  • Are pursuing a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Must be able to begin full-time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 and August 2028.
  • Must be enrolled at a university during December 2027 to June 2028.
  • Are business proficient in English.
  • Must be willing to work in London.

How you’ll excel as an Analyst (MFE)

You’ll excel if you have:

  • A strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, investment management, and financial modelling.
  • Excellent foundations in statistics and econometrics; experience analyzing large data sets preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming; Python required, with MATLAB a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate ideas and strategies clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Fluency in English with another European language desirable.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and professionally with all levels of personnel internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and experience using emerging technologies and AI tools in your work or school projects to solve problems and drive better outcomes.

See yourself as an Analyst (MFE)

As a member of the Client Solutions and Analytics Team, you’ll partner with clients and develop expertise across a wide range of multi-asset allocation topics. You will gain a strong understanding of portfolio construction and risk analyses applied across a wide spectrum of partners. Responsibilities can vary, but may include:

  • Supporting the team in delivering asset allocation and risk management solutions to clients and prospects in both assets-only and ALM space, working closely with senior members as well as Account Management, Product Management, and Portfolio Management.
  • Using proprietary software and external data sources to run risk analytics, optimizations, economic scenario analyses, and stress tests.
  • Developing and maintaining complex quantitative models and proprietary analytical tools.
  • Performing risk management, attribution, and other product analysis reports on a periodic basis as required.
  • Supporting senior Strategists and Quantitative Research Analysts to generate thought leadership and asset class insights.
  • Utilizing AI-enabled tools to streamline processes, enhance insights, and support more efficient and scalable delivery of client analyses and development of quantitative models.

The PIMCO Internship Experience

  • The internship is a 10-week program running from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you are available for the full duration.
  • During Week 1, you’ll participate in PIMCO Fundamentals Training to build the skills, knowledge, and relationships to succeed.
  • After Week 1, you’ll join your team and work on projects described in the “See yourself as an Analyst” section.
  • You’ll complete at least one capstone project over the summer and present it to the team.
  • Alongside your colleagues, you’ll participate in PIMCO’s Global Month of Volunteering, developed to heighten the impact of employees’ worldwide volunteer efforts.
  • Join a variety of cross-divisional education, networking, and social events.
  • Your supervisor, peer mentor, senior leaders, and team will provide guidance and mentorship throughout the summer.
  • Gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one, with training and resources to build future-ready skills and make an impact early.
