General Description

The Investment Management Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program beginning in June 2027. The program consists of one week of training followed by nine weeks working within a specific Investment Management team. Across all teams, the curriculum is designed to equip Summer Analysts with the foundational skills needed to succeed in Investment Management. Throughout the program, Summer Analysts experience the culture and collaborative environment of Morgan Stanley while performing work similar to that of a Full-Time Analyst.

Participants will join the Tactical Value team and gain hands-on experience supporting investment professionals across a variety of research, analysis, and investment-related initiatives. Through meaningful project work and day-to-day exposure to the investment process, participants will develop an understanding of private market investing, portfolio analysis, and the evaluation of opportunistic investment opportunities.

This role within MSIM is primarily a learning and growth opportunity, which does not necessarily correlate with full-time opportunities within the firm.

Team Overview

Tactical Value focuses on identifying and evaluating opportunistic investment opportunities across private markets. Participants work with investment professionals to support research, financial analysis, and investment-related projects while gaining exposure to the investment decision-making process and the broader private markets landscape.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with senior members of the Fund to conduct diligence on investment opportunities.
• Coordinate with advisors and consultants on due diligence items.
• Help construct company financial forecast and valuation models.
• Execute other investment-related tasks (e.g., track prospective deals, help negotiate confidentiality agreements).
• Contribute to investment memoranda on investment opportunities.
• Monitor performance of existing portfolio companies.
• Stay current with market developments, including new investment products and movements in the economy.
• Develop public speaking, company/industry research and analysis (qualitative), modeling, presentation building, and project management skills.

Job Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree; expected graduation between December 2028 and June 2029.
• Exceptional academic performance and strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across the team and the broader organization.
• Self-starter who can work independently.
• Driven, highly motivated, and results-focused, with strong organizational and time management skills to manage projects and competing priorities.

Compensation

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $36.06 per hour at the commencement of employment. Base pay, if hired, will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position, total compensation may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
