Data Center Infrastructure Engineer, HKG - DCO

About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the fastest growing businesses within Amazon, with a focus on expanding its footprint in APAC. We are seeking talented engineers who can take ownership, are eager to learn, and are self-motivated. The successful candidate will follow Amazon data center processes and maintain high operational standards while supporting server and network hardware and software.

This role requires adaptation to a fast and constantly changing environment, including shift work with weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 7x24 roster coverage for data center operations
• Act as incident first responder and provide onsite hands-on support
• Perform break-fix and troubleshooting according to process guidelines
• Maintain proper media operations according to process guidelines
• Support capacity load-in and decommissioning according to process guidelines
• Support site management and maintain tidiness in operational areas
• Contribute to improving operational efficiency based on day-to-day experiences

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we keep the cloud running—supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that enable customers to continually access the innovation they rely on.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other key roles. You will collaborate across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers, in an inclusive culture that empowers you to own ideas through completion.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts
• Experience communicating effectively in English (written and verbal)
• Experience demonstrating strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication, or experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service
• 1+ years of server hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, or experience installing and configuring network equipment
• 1+ years of network cabling experience, including fiber optic types and test equipment, or experience in similar technical roles
• Degree or High Diploma (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines
• Sound understanding of incident response and prioritization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center engineering or operations, or experience providing operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission-critical plants, or production facilities
• 1+ years of data center experience, or experience in networking
• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies
• Knowledge of process improvement and quality measures
• Literacy in security and customer data protection
