Solutions Architect (Greenfield) — Public Sector

As a Solutions Architect I at Amazon, you will partner directly with customers to design and deliver cloud-based solutions that reduce risk, optimize costs, and unlock new possibilities. You will work across teams to translate business objectives into well-architected technical designs, gain hands-on experience with systems architecture, and build trusted relationships with the customers you serve. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical point of contact for new-to-cloud public sector customers in the UK, guiding them from first workload to production.
• Conduct technical discovery sessions in English to understand customer pain points and recommend AWS-based solutions.
• Partner with Account Executives on territory planning, account prioritization, and customer engagement strategies across UK public sector and Germany public sector.
• Design and present foundational cloud architectures aligned with customer business outcomes and public sector requirements in both markets.
• Build repeatable plays and enablement assets for common customer scenarios, including cost optimization, compliance, and legacy migration.
• Evangelize AWS technology through workshops, proof-of-concept engagements, and technical content in English and German.
• Navigate German public sector procurement and compliance requirements alongside UK frameworks.
• Contribute to the growth of the Greenfield SA organization through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and operational best practices.

A Day in the Life

You partner with Account Executives to enter new public-sector accounts by translating agency missions into technical strategies that deliver first workloads on AWS. Your days blend research—understanding an agency’s IT landscape, compliance posture, and modernization drivers—with hands-on engagement. You will lead technical discovery calls, whiteboard architectures, build proof-of-concept demos, and craft migration roadmaps that help prospects move forward with confidence. You support AEs through complex procurement cycles by articulating technical differentiators in RFI/RFP responses, and you coordinate with AWS service teams, partner SIs, and security specialists to assemble the right solution. You maintain technical win plans, contribute to pipeline reviews with data-driven assessments, and stay current on AWS services to match emerging capabilities to customer needs.

About the Team

The WWPS Greenfield SA team accelerates cloud adoption for public sector customers who are new to AWS. Solutions Architects are paired with dedicated Account Executives across defined territories to create structured, proactive engagement models. SAs participate in a structured Greenfield Academy covering SA-AM engagement models, go-to-market strategy, discovery, and customer-facing best practices.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
• 2+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with public sector organizations (government, education, healthcare, nonprofit).
• Experience working with AWS technologies from a development or operations perspective.
• Understanding of UK public sector procurement and compliance frameworks (e.g., G-Cloud, Cyber Essentials).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
