Local Delivery Driver - CDL B (Relief Route)

Delivery Driver (Relief/Backup), PepsiCo

Overview

Position available as a relief driver to cover delivery shifts when regular drivers are unavailable (vacation, illness, etc.). Routes typically change day to day. Delivers products to stores on established or contingency routes and via dynamic dispatch, including convenience and gas stores, small supermarkets, and drug stores, under a range of weather conditions. Drives the delivery vehicle, unloads products, and brings them into the store. Responsible for ongoing rotating and stocking of products on store shelves, displays, vending equipment, and in coolers. Builds small displays and sets up promotional materials such as pricing signs and banners. Generates invoices and handles daily settlement of cash and charges. Regular interaction with store management is expected. The role is labor-intensive and involves lifting, loading, and pushing/pulling cases ranging from 20–45 pounds per case repeatedly, as well as reaching, squatting, and bending during delivery and merchandising tasks.

Primary Accountabilities

• Deliver products and execute all promotions
• Service all scheduled customers by the end of the shift
• Merchandise all accounts to local standards
• Follow DOT regulations
• Establish positive working relationships with primary contacts at each account
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance

Qualifications

• 21 years or older
• Valid U.S. CDL with Non-Excepted Interstate Status (if applicable)
• Note: In California locations except Stockton, both non-excepted intrastate and non-excepted interstate status are accepted. In Stockton, CA, only non-excepted interstate status is accepted.
• Pass the required drug test and physical capabilities test (if applicable)
• Pass DOT physical and DOT Road Test

Helpful Experience

• Operating trucks requiring a valid U.S. CDL (e.g., basic driving maneuvers)
• Merchandising products (filling shelves, building displays, rotating stock, cleaning shelves)
• Operating equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks)

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $28.65 per hour

Sign-On Bonus: $2,500 total — $1,250 after 9 months and $1,250 after 15 months of service, provided there are no disciplinary actions.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves manual handling, lifting, loading, and pushing/pulling cases ranging from 20–45 pounds repeatedly. It requires frequent reaching, squatting, and bending during delivery and merchandising tasks.
