Role details

Summer Internship Programme

Six weeks at BDO offers a unique opportunity to build practical experience, work directly with clients, and develop your career alongside a supportive team. BDO is the largest mid-market organisation in the UK, providing access to significant scale, expertise, and career opportunities.

The programme commences on Monday, July 5th, with a mandatory, fully paid, organisation-wide induction in Coventry, where you will learn about BDO, our values, and our service lines. Following the induction, you will be based at the office of your choice for the remainder of the six-week programme. Full commitment to the six-week duration is required.

About the Tax Practice

BDO’s Tax practice is highly specialised, covering 13 areas, including Employment Tax, Private Client, and Tax Dispute Resolution. Our tax professionals serve a diverse client base, ranging from FTSE 100 companies to high-growth start-ups.

During this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in Tax by working closely with experienced colleagues, building both your technical and analytical skills through client work. This is an opportunity to explore different areas within Tax and see how our teams collaborate with clients. Newcomers are welcome; you will be supported by experienced staff to learn, ask questions, and build confidence.

Successful completion of the internship may lead to an offer to return after graduation, providing a direct route into the BDO graduate programme.

The Programme Experience

Your time with us involves exploring our business areas, learning about professional qualifications, and participating in workshops focused on our culture, values, and wellbeing. You will then apply this learning by getting involved in meaningful work alongside experienced staff and fellow interns.

This is a chance to try new things, boost your confidence, and gain a true understanding of working at BDO, all while having support systems in place to help you succeed.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are inquisitive, adaptable, and eager to learn. You enjoy solving problems, paying attention to detail, and collaborating with others.

You do not need to enter this programme with prior extensive tax knowledge. Bring your curiosity and willingness to engage, and we will provide the environment to build your skills, confidence, and experience.

Location and Logistics

We are hiring for positions in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Guildford, London, Reading, or Southampton.

Please note: It is essential that you live within a commutable distance of the office you apply to. Relocation support is not provided. As in-person time is crucial for learning and relationship building, please consider this requirement carefully.
