Candidate Profile

Successful Jefferies Interns must be able to multitask and manage various projects simultaneously. Candidates need to demonstrate professionalism, relationship management skills, and strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills. The work is fast-paced, challenging, and intellectually stimulating; the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable, and function both independently and collaboratively are essential traits.

Candidates should possess a strong academic background and be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent program.

Desired Background and Skills

• Candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Programming experience in one or more of Python, Java, C++, C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, or KDB/Q.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, APIs, relational databases, and SQL; exposure to Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
• Interest in capital markets, investment banking, client relationship management, trading, risk analytics, or financial data.
• Exposure to cloud, distributed systems, microservices, containers, CI/CD, Git, and modern software engineering practices.
• Familiarity with data analysis, visualization, BI/reporting, AI/ML, large language models, or retrieval-augmented generation is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, collaborate in a fast-paced global team, and balance experimentation with disciplined delivery.

IB Tech, CRM & Analytics

This strategic, agile, and cross-functional team supports global digitalization through innovative technology and deep analytics. The team partners with client-facing businesses to build technology for investment banking, trading, sales, and research, focusing on revenue, efficiency, and client service.

Summer Analysts may collaborate with Software Developers, UI Designers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts on technologies such as microservices, containerization, SaaS, CI/CD, and serverless solutions using AWS and Salesforce clouds.

Fixed Income Technology

Fixed Income Technology develops automation, analytics, and high-performance solutions to support Jefferies’ global Fixed Income sales and trading businesses. The team supports Rates, Credit, MBS, and FX client bases, maintains a controlled and resilient production environment, and delivers a forward-looking change portfolio to support business growth.

Interns gain exposure to software and data engineering, cloud technology, trading applications, and production support while addressing real market challenges alongside technologists and business users.

Equities Technology

The global Equities Technology team builds solutions across cash equities, portfolio and algorithmic trading, central risk, and diverse derivatives (listed and OTC). Its platforms support order management, quantitative trading, real-time position and risk management, AI/ML data analytics, trade lifecycle management, and regulatory/client reporting.

The technology stack utilized includes Python, Java, C++, C#, web visualization, cloud platforms, high-performance messaging, and in-memory databases.

Risk Technology

Risk Technology is a global, cross-functional team responsible for Jefferies’ enterprise risk platform. Working closely with Risk Managers, the team identifies, evaluates, and manages firm-wide risk using large datasets, distributed near-real-time calculation engines, and sophisticated visualization tools.

The next-generation risk platform leverages cloud, Snowflake, containers, Gen AI, and modern BI technologies, offering interns the chance to solve complex, real-world financial risk management problems.

The salary for the Analyst role is $100,000 and the Associate role is $120,000 (pro-rated for the 10-week internship program).
