Business Unit & Role Overview

Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express’ merchant and network-related businesses. This includes managing our relationships across the globe with both the millions of merchants who accept American Express and our partners in countries and territories that enable card acceptance, issuance, and innovation.

American Express has two core customer types: Card Members who use our cards to make purchases, and businesses that accept them. In GMNS, we primarily focus on the businesses that accept American Express cards. We bring together teams that manage and evolve the company’s relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs our payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.

This is an exciting time for GMNS as we expand global acceptance of our cards, drive greater usage of our network, leverage modern capabilities to capture broader revenue streams, and drive innovation both in-house and with partners.

• 190+ partners who either issue cards on our network and/or sign new businesses to accept Amex on our behalf
