Business Unit / Role Specific Information

We are looking for Apprentices to join our 18-month Software Engineering Apprenticeship, providing real-world work experience while allowing you to gain a Level 4 qualification.

The program has been designed to nurture the next generation of technical specialists and leaders. You will receive continuous training and development, with 20% classroom-based learning through an external training partner and 80% on-the-job learning. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of programming languages, including Java, Go, Kotlin, Python, CSS, JavaScript, Maven, Spring, and many more.

You will work on projects that have real and long-lasting impact on our business, while growing your technical expertise. Your development will also be supported through a curated program of networking and learning experiences.

What Type of Work Can You Expect?

  • Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predict future challenges.
  • Develop software applications as part of a Scrum team.
  • Learn technical skills, write code, conduct code reviews, and perform testing.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Senior Engineers, and Application Architects to conceptualize, build new products, and prioritize features.
  • Design work, such as user experience or graphic design.
  • Take part in social activities, charity days, and projects with other Apprentices, Summer Interns, and Graduates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A-Levels (or equivalent such as BTEC or T-Levels) — Grade 5 or above, preferably in STEM-related subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • GCSE Maths & English — Grade 5 or above.

Please note: If you have studied Computer Science at Level 4 or achieved a Software Engineering Level 4 Diploma, you are not eligible to apply.

  • Creative, collaborative, and curious thinker with a desire to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify opportunities for innovation and change.
  • Passion for technology.
  • Some entry-level software development experience, design, or creative experience developing products or projects in an academic, professional, or personal setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate work to team members and partners.
  • Prior coding knowledge/experience in at least one programming language.
