Job Summary

As part of the APAC and Middle East regional audit hub, the Audit Intern is responsible for conducting audit tests and work streams and issuing audit conclusions and recommendations as part of an audit assignment under the supervision of a Senior Auditor or a Lead Auditor.

Through interviews with auditees, reviews of documentation, and data analyses, the intern assesses the risks of activities, departments, or themes reviewed, as well as the effectiveness of the internal control setup. Over the course of various audit assignments, the intern develops audit techniques to gain autonomy and efficiency. The internship starts on January 1, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

During an audit assignment

The Audit Intern conducts audit work under the supervision of a Senior Auditor/Lead Auditor within established timeframes, adhering to IGE methodology, procedures, and Internal Audit standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Independently participating in audit planning and fieldwork as assigned by the Lead Auditor, including preliminary assessment of the audited activity to highlight related risks and controls, and testing/analyzing the results of planned controls.
  • Clearly and precisely documenting performed controls and reached conclusions in the test sheets.
  • Identifying and reporting on strengths and weaknesses of audited areas, analyzing the root causes and consequences of identified weaknesses, formalizing possible remediation and recommendations, and concluding on the effectiveness and efficiency of the control setup and business practices.
  • Presenting audit conclusions to IGE management and the audited unit's management (e.g., debriefing presentation, final audit report).
  • Keeping the assigned Lead Auditor/Local Head of Audit informed of progress, and escalating any issues that may impact or delay the audit or any other relevant matters concerning the risk and control environment.
  • Conducting recommendations follow-ups to monitor whether adequate corrective actions have been taken prior to closing any recommendations.
  • Ensuring the proper archiving of all supporting documentation, audit evidence, and deliverables.

IGE Continuous Improvement Program / Transversal Topics

The Audit Intern contributes to the continuous improvement of IGE methodologies and processes and may be asked to:

  • Prepare or update audit guides or scorecards related to specific activities based on existing knowledge, documentation, and interviews.
  • Build and share knowledge.
  • Participate in one or several knowledge communities within IGE.

Supplementary Information

The Audit Intern will receive regular training on banking and regulatory matters and must maintain sufficient knowledge of the assigned audit area. All mandatory training must be completed within defined timelines.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimal Education Level: Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent academic qualification / Speciality.
  • Academic Focus: Bachelor or Master student in data science, accounting, business, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimal Experience Level: 0-2 years.

Required Skills and Languages

  • Skills: Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to work under time pressure, and being a strong team player.
  • Communication: Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of banking and finance activities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Languages: Fluent in English; fluency in French is a plus.
