About the Team

The Pricing Centre, which is part of the Audit & Assurance Group, provides valuation support to Deloitte’s North-South Europe (NSE) audit practice. We also deliver assurance engagements across various industries and jurisdictions. The Pricing Centre performs fair value calculations and assesses valuation controls across a wide range of product types and asset classes, from vanilla bonds to complex OTC derivatives, including a dedicated sub-group focused on structured finance.

What Kind of Work Will I Do?

For 12 months, you will be a key part of the business. We provide comprehensive training and support to develop your knowledge of financial instruments, including derivatives and structured products. As a member of the Pricing Centre, you will handle valuation requests from the firm and external assurance clients. Valuations are conducted using a combination of internally developed and externally purchased tools, alongside internal and external market data. Your duties may include:

  • Valuing financial instruments and preparing detailed workings to support the valuation.
  • Replicating trade structures within valuation tools.
  • Collating, assessing, and using relevant market data.
  • Investigating valuation differences, such as performing sensitivity analysis.
  • Discussing valuation methodologies and inputs with client staff.
  • Discussing valuation work results with senior Deloitte stakeholders.
  • Creating bespoke pricing tools.
  • Performing model validation and related exercises.

On all projects, you will be supported by senior team members.

Skills and Academic Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • You must be a university student performing well academically.
  • You must be interested in financial mathematics.
  • You must be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in a numerical or scientific discipline.
  • You must be in the penultimate year of your course.
  • A passion for business and eagerness to tackle challenging projects is essential.

Useful Skills (Not Necessary)

  • Programming skills in at least one of the following languages: VBA, MATLAB, Python.
  • Previous use of third-party tools such as Bloomberg, ICE SD, or Refinitiv.
  • Good knowledge of Excel.

Development and Support

You will receive a comprehensive induction and training plan, and you will be assigned a buddy for support. Regular check-ins with the wider team will ensure encouragement throughout your placement. You will gain broad knowledge in financial instrument valuation, firsthand experience valuing complex financial derivatives, and practical understanding of third-party tools like Bloomberg, SuperDerivatives, and Refinitiv. Soft and technical skills development is also supported through additional training sessions.

Work Environment

Deloitte operates a hybrid system, combining office and home working, recognizing the importance of in-person interaction for development. For client-facing roles, attendance at client sites on certain days may be required, and meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note that the final assessment and induction will be in-person to facilitate networking.
