Summer College Internship Program

This is a 10-week paid internship experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. Participants have the opportunity to engage in development workshops, network with colleagues, and contribute to meaningful company projects while being mentored by their respective managers throughout the summer.

Interns can work in various specialized tracks, including Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical or technical degree programs.

Internship Details

  • This is a paid, 10-week summer internship, running from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
  • Interns may be placed in either a technical or non-technical area.
  • Development workshops are provided to support the transition from academic life to the corporate environment.
  • Housing is not provided as part of the program.

Essential Accountabilities

Specific duties will vary by assignment and divisional needs.

  • Support Request for Proposal/Information (RFP/I) activities, including evaluating vendors and spend categories, and leading sourcing initiatives by identifying new competitive suppliers.
  • Compile and report on supply chain spend analytics; must be willing to learn new tasks daily while developing interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Create and deliver a presentation upon completion of the internship.
  • Work with a mentor to support key strategic projects.
  • Complete work assignments according to business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
  • Perform a mix of technical and non-technical tasks covering a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the company's mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and embodying company beliefs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and protect member privacy in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Strong academic standing.
  • Desired Majors/Degree Programs include: Business & Management (e.g., Finance, Actuarial, Accounting, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or similar programs).

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and staff at all company levels.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work well in a team and establish positive working relationships with peers.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively across intra- and inter-departmental teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.

Compensation and EEO Information

Compensation Range: Level I - Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00

The salary range indicated represents the minimum and maximum for this position. Actual salary will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, budget, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education relating to the minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. This range is only one component of the total rewards package, which may also include group health/dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and paid holidays. There may be opportunity for remote work, decided on a case-by-case basis.
