About Advisory

In Advisory, you will be involved in client work, gaining experience across diverse projects and challenges. This work may include assisting organizations with change management, supporting business restructuring, or aiding due diligence for acquisitions.

With specialist areas spanning Mergers & Acquisitions, Forensic Accounting and Valuation Services, Business Restructuring, Transaction Services, and Financial Services Advisory, you will gain a comprehensive view of the business.

You will be trusted to take initiative, try new things, and take on more responsibility as your confidence grows, all while having support and feedback from experienced colleagues.

The Placement Programme

During your placement, you will work alongside seasoned professionals, developing your skills through Advisory projects. You will gain deeper insight into how organizations operate, contribute to client solutions, and identify your personal strengths and interests.

This placement can advance your path toward professional qualification. During your year with BDO, you can:

• Sit three professional exams.
• Log six months of practical work experience with the relevant Professional Body.
• Return to BDO on the Graduate Programme to complete your remaining exams and training, potentially qualifying six months sooner due to your placement experience.

You also have the opportunity to apply to return to your placement team, which could lead to a graduate offer before your final year of university.

Important Note: You must be able to live within a commutable distance of the office you apply to. Relocation support is not provided, so please consider this carefully. In-person interaction, whether at the office or with clients, is vital for your learning, relationship building, and maximizing your placement experience.

Eligibility and Requirements

To apply, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be a second-year student on a four-year undergraduate degree seeking a third-year work placement.
• Be on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline (obtained or predicted).
• Hold Three A-levels or equivalent at grades A*-C (excluding General Studies and Extended Projects) or four Scottish Advanced Highers at grade A-B. (Note: We do not use UCAS points; evidence will be requested if successful).
• Hold GCSEs at grade 4 and above in Maths and English, or Scottish National 5 grade A-C.
• Have the right to work in the UK.

Interview Process

We aim to keep you informed at every stage of our hiring process. The typical stages include:

2. Online assessments.
3. Video interview.
4. Virtual assessment centre and interview.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £28,800 - £29,700 (dependent on location).
