Software Engineering and Analytics & Modelling applicants also complete a separate online coding test (roughly sixty minutes, plus a video question) before reaching interviews. Per the EMEA candidate FAQ and the Americas FAQ, final-round interviews "may include a group exercise, presentation or case study" and are run on a rolling basis from when reviews open. The HireVue and the coding test cannot be retaken once submitted, so the practical gate is preparing both well enough in one sitting before launching the application.

BlackRock runs distinct early-career programs across EMEA, the Americas and APAC, with eligibility tied to graduation year:

• Full-Time Analyst Programme – two years, all three regions
• Summer Internship Programme – eight weeks June–August in EMEA and APAC, nine weeks in the Americas
• Off-Cycle Internship Programme – six months, EMEA
• Placement Programme – twelve months, EMEA, for degree-required undergraduate placements
• Client & Product Graduate Rotational Programme – two and a half years, EMEA
• MBA Internship Programme and Quantitative Master's Internship Programme – nine weeks, Americas (plus a UK Quantitative Master's variant)
• Apprenticeship Programme – eighteen months in Edinburgh and London, twelve months in Singapore
• Mexico City Internship Programme – seven to twelve months from June, Spanish + English fluency required
• Japan University Internship Programme – one week in Tokyo, JLPT N1 required if Japanese is not a first language

A candidate can apply to only one region and, within EMEA or the Americas, one programme with up to three function choices spread across at most two applications. That constraint forces an early decision about geography and discipline before applications open.

For an international applicant, this means sponsorship is a function-level question rather than a programme-level guarantee: confirm it directly with the recruiter for the specific role, not from the programme page, before treating any offer as work-authorised.

For early-career applicants, three structural features follow from this scale: programmes are run on a regional basis with separate EMEA, Americas and APAC application tracks; technology and quantitative roles sit alongside investment and client roles inside the same campus framework, with their own coding tests; and the application limit of one programme and at most three functions forces candidates to choose between, say, an Aladdin Engineering seat and an Investments seat at the point of applying rather than later in the process.
