The Team
Our Global Markets Off-cycle Analyst programme gives our interns exposure to the various products within Equities Financing. This may include Physical Prime Brokerage, Stock Loan, Single Name and Index Delta One products, Account Management, and Financial Resource management.
Programme Overview
Our off-cycle interns participate in a 12-month programme within Prime Financing. Mirroring the role of various full-time employees, this programme provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to life within Prime Finance, tailored to the skills and profile of the successful candidate(s).
This may include:
- Account Management: strengthening relationships with our hedge fund clients through excellent servicing of accounts, seeking commercial opportunities to drive business in the future, and proactively spotting efficiency improvements to reduce risks and enhance existing processes.
- Prime Financing Trading: working with Stock Loan and the Swaps trading desks, which offer synthetic access to clients looking to access global Indices and physical and synthetic access to Equity-linked securities listed within the EMEA region.
- Financial Resources Group (FRG): growing and optimizing Prime Financing client revenues and clients’ resource footprint within the parameters of the firm’s binding constraints (capital, liquidity, balance sheet), as well as exposure to other areas of Prime Financing and how it fits into the broader Equities and Markets franchise.
As the off-cycle internship acts as a hiring channel for our Prime Financing graduate programme, you will be given responsibilities early and relied on to make a significant contribution to the team and our client franchise.
Training and Development
Your training and development is a top priority, with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme, in addition to on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
As an off-cycle analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Gaining an in-depth introduction to the bank, its culture and global reach, alongside other newly hired analysts.
- Building strong relationships through direct interaction with hedge fund clients while servicing accounts efficiently and effectively.
- Learning from teams of professionals across the bank while working within experienced Prime Financing teams to enhance knowledge of the products and processes employed by the desk, and to develop an understanding of client demands and how we deliver our product. This may include risk and collateral management, regulatory initiatives, finance to ensure we maximise revenues and returns, and operations to ensure an optimal client experience across our systems and platforms.
- Risk management: working with traders to better understand the risk profile of the book and determine the most optimal way of hedging.
- Pricing: working with traders and FRG to price new business across a broad spectrum of Equity Financing products.
- Short coverage: assisting traders on sourcing optimal borrow liquidity, considering cost, collateral and capital efficiency to meet firm and client net short obligations.
- Market color: providing daily market color on borrow liquidity and fees across stocks across the EMEA market universe.
- Data analysis: assisting in analysing data to understand the book and our clients and help drive STP efficiencies.
- Understanding front-to-back: working with broader operations and settlements teams to understand the full lifecycle of a trade.
- Producing in-depth profitability analysis of your subset of clients to help highlight business growth opportunities and prospective revenue adjacencies.
In addition to regular responsibilities, you will collaborate on exciting and challenging longer-term projects that continue throughout the internship period, such as identification and implementation of operational efficiency initiatives to streamline processes.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2028 and July 2029. Completion means completing all final exams and coursework and having no outstanding requirements for graduation. - On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full-time employment to commence in July 2029. Some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered; deferrals are not available.
