Cboe interns work with a variety of staff across multiple departments and have the opportunity to apply their skills in their field of interest while learning about exchange technology and operations through our Options Institute courses.
The three main foundational pillars of our internship program are develop, educate, and network. We want to ensure each of our interns receives real-world working experience that encourages academic, professional, and personal growth.
Candidates should be versatile, eager, and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place. The internship program runs from June to August, and you will wrap up your internship with a final presentation and retreat. Visit our student page for more information.
About the Regulatory Team Internship
An internship with the Regulatory team is a unique opportunity for interns to gain valuable insight from their Cboe peers and continue developing career skills and business knowledge. During your internship, you will be exposed to all areas of regulation, including:
- Investigations
- Surveillance
- Cross Market Regulation
- Regulatory Guidance
- Enforcement
Responsibilities and Learning Objectives
- Assist regulatory staff with data analysis related to investigations or examinations of trading firm data.
- Gather data from trading firms when necessary to support data analysis and respond to general inquiries from the firms.
- Professionally interact with internal regulatory staff and external contacts (such as Self-Regulatory Organizations and trading permit holders).
- Document findings in an organized and concise fashion; provide clearly written, detailed explanations of transaction activity.
- Assist with file documentation management and file upload into FileNet.
- Provide ad hoc support and perform other duties as assigned.
- Prioritize tasks and work assignments; complete multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and quality; adjust to changes in priorities and situations; complete work under pressure; meet deadlines.
- Organize and express ideas clearly and understandably when speaking to individuals or groups; listen to others and respond appropriately; use appropriate grammar and word choice.
- Evaluate, analyze, and summarize data and facts; establish logical connections; form sound decisions based on analysis.
- Interact in a professional manner with internal and external contacts; use tact and diplomacy; maintain confidentiality; appropriately handle and communicate controversial or sensitive information.
Ideal Candidate
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Finance, Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Business Forensics, Economics, Data Analytics, or Business Administration (or other related field) and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.

Pay Range (United States): Our pay range for interns is determined by function and education level. The national new hire base pay range for this job is $22.00 - $42.00 per hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined by years of education completed.
In addition to base pay, eligibility for our total rewards program may include benefits such as 401(k) with a generous company match and paid sick time. Your recruiter will provide more details about the total compensation package during the hiring process.
