Overview

The D. E. Shaw group seeks an analyst to work closely with a team of attorneys and compliance professionals to help ensure the firm’s business activities are conducted in strict accordance with regulatory requirements. This position offers broad exposure to the firm’s trading, operations, and software development groups, as well as the chance to handle real-time issues related to the firm’s suite of global investment products in a fast-paced, constantly evolving regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare regulatory filings and collaborate with compliance staff to support the firm’s business units
• Design and review automated compliance monitoring reports
• Ensure adherence to compliance policies
• Work on long-term projects to maintain the firm’s high standards of compliance with new and existing regulations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Excellent analytical abilities, strong drafting and verbal communication skills, and well-developed numeracy
• One to four years of experience with a demonstrated record of achievement in academic and professional endeavors
• Strong organizational and project management acumen, keen eye for detail, and solid work ethic
• Prior experience in paralegal work, accounting, financial operations, compliance, or investment management is beneficial but not required

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000 per year. The compensation package may include variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus (guaranteed in the first year of hire) and benefits such as medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family-building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
