Cboe Global Markets

Cboe runs paid 10–12 week summer internships through its students program, with separate U.S. and Europe tracks:

• U.S.: Chicago, Kansas City and New York City; roles open on the careers site in fall/winter for the upcoming summer and are reviewed on a rolling basis
• Europe (Cboe Europe): London and Amsterdam; roles open in the spring for the upcoming summer

Each track pairs team-embedded project work with custom coursework from the firm's Options Institute and runs on a hybrid in-office schedule. Because the U.S. cycle opens months before the summer start and screens applications as they arrive, a candidate applying in the new year is competing against a pool that has been read since autumn.

Cboe is the operator that created the first listed stock-options market in 1973 and launched the VIX volatility index in 1993, and the Cboe Options Exchange remains the largest single venue in U.S. multi-listed options. The group now runs four U.S. options exchanges plus European and Asia-Pacific equity venues following the BATS (2017) and Chi-X Asia Pacific (2021) acquisitions. Interns sit alongside that franchise and are routed through the firm's Options Institute — a 40-plus-year derivatives-education program — on top of their team assignment. For a candidate choosing between exchange operators, this places early exposure on a derivatives-and-volatility franchise rather than a generalist equities one, relevant if the longer track is options market structure, derivatives trading or volatility products.
