12-Month Internship – Data Scientist
Role Summary
Crédit Agricole CIB Global Markets Research is an international team of 40 research professionals based across 8 major financial centres, dedicated to building strong client relationships and delivering high-value, tailored market analysis. As we expand our data capabilities, we strengthen our data team to leverage expertise across Rates, Credit, FX, Emerging Markets, and Equities, supported by a robust data infrastructure developed over the years.
The intern will support the development and enhancement of our proprietary market intelligence platform, with a particular focus on Interest Rates, Inflation, and FX products. The role involves building quantitative models, improving analytics, and designing interactive data visualisations for internal and external users. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the team’s data infrastructure and support strategists with data needs, including data extraction, transformation, modelling, automation, and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Data extraction and integration
- Work with analysts to understand data needs and translate strategic priorities into actionable data solutions.
- Collect and integrate data from various sources, databases, and APIs into the central data system.
- Clean and format collected data to ensure consistency and usability across the data repository.
- Develop Python/R scripts to automate data updates, focusing on FX, inflation, and interest rate metrics.
Developing and maintaining models for Interest Rates, Inflation, and FX markets
- Develop quantitative models using econometric and machine learning techniques, including breakeven analysis, inflation forecasting, relative value modelling, and FX intraday volatility analysis.
- Build scenario analysis tools to simulate shocks on HICP subcomponents and assess pass-through mechanisms.
- Compute and enhance key market indicators, including measures of the market impact of economic events.
- Implement validation frameworks, including backtesting, cross-validation, and out-of-sample performance assessment, to ensure model robustness.
Interactive dashboards and charts
- Design intuitive, dynamic visualisations that turn complex market data into clear, actionable insights.
- Develop interactive features that allow clients to explore scenarios, create custom aggregates, and simulate market shocks.

Candidate Criteria
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or equivalent
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (statistics, economics, econometrics, data science)
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience working with large datasets, designing efficient data structures, and building data processing workflows
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools
- Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and quantitative modelling
- Strong interest in financial markets and global economics
- Fluent in English (French is a plus)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Resourceful, proactive, and solution-oriented
- Organised, rigorous, and detail-oriented
