Fixed Income Division Internship Programs

In the Fixed Income division, we work in fast-paced, constantly changing global markets to assess and manage risk, trade securities, manage relationships with clients, and structure and execute innovative transactions.

Industrial Placement Program & Summer Analyst Program

The Fixed Income Division’s Industrial Placement and Summer Analyst Program is designed for undergraduate students who are either required by their degree or able to participate in a 6-month or 10-week internship. Industrial Placement & Summer Analysts receive on-the-job training, work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects, and build skills in a dynamic and evolving environment. The programs also include a Senior Management Speaker Series, desk teach-ins, networking events, community service, performance reviews, and a robust mentorship program.

Industrial Placement and Summer Analysts begin with a one-day orientation that introduces the Firm’s businesses and provides insight into working at Morgan Stanley. They then participate in Sales & Trading division-specific training to develop essential core skills, including daily market updates, business overviews, and foundational product and technical instruction.

Role and Responsibilities

Sales

• Understand how a client base is developed and maintained
• Create investment ideas
• Learn how we sell and cross-sell the Firm’s products
• Represent the Firm when interfacing with clients on important business issues

Trading

• Assist in generating trade ideas and analysis
• Support all aspects of the market-making and trade execution process, including providing research analytics on trades and performing relative value analysis

Structuring

• Learn how to build valuation models to help issuers and investors optimize a transaction’s economics
• Quantify sources of value and risk

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with expected graduation between October 2027 and July 2028
• Interest in Finance: Demonstrated keen interest in finance and financial markets, particularly fixed income
• Analytical & Adaptable: Highly analytical and adaptable; able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment; collaborative team player with a strong work ethic
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Language: Fluency in English required; proficiency in an Asian language preferred

Internship Period

• Industrial Placement Program: 6 months between January and July 2027
• Summer Analyst Program: 10 weeks between June and August 2027
