Interested in alternative investments but not sure where to start? UBS is seeking ambitious students to join the 2027 Summer Internship Program within its Unified Global Alternatives (UGA) group. The UGA group focuses on managing, structuring, and onboarding alternative investments such as hedge funds, private equity, private credit, and real estate.

Role Overview

As a UGA Intern, you will help review fund documents, prepare due diligence reports, and analyze private market structures. You will work alongside experienced platform officers and product managers to support the team’s platform initiatives and ongoing management of the Alternative Investments platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support initial due diligence of prospective alternative investment managers by conducting research, reviewing fund materials, participating in meetings and due diligence calls with General Partners (GPs), and assisting with preparation of due diligence reports and investment committee materials.
  • Assist with ongoing monitoring of approved managers and funds by reviewing portfolio updates, tracking key developments, and summarizing takeaways from manager meetings and reporting.
  • Help manage the team’s pipeline of prospective and approved investment funds by maintaining due diligence materials, tracking key milestones and deliverables, monitoring fund performance data, and ensuring investment information is current and readily available for ongoing reviews.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Investment Due Diligence, Operational Due Diligence, Product Development, Legal, and Compliance to support platform initiatives.

Team & Location

UBS operates as one global organization, with streams aligned to each of UBS’s key business and functional areas. You will be based in New York City, with connections to colleagues around the world.

Qualifications & Expertise

UBS is looking for candidates who:

  • Are graduating between December 2027 and June 2028, with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.
  • Are pursuing a degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field. Exposure to financial services is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Have strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, along with very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Can handle changing circumstances and drive to finish short turn-around projects.
  • Are familiar with fund-of-one structures, fund terms, managed accounts, and co-investment structures.
  • Are a hard-working self-starter able to manage your own workflow.
  • Have a strong interest in innovation and a desire to leverage evolving technological tools (including AI) to create better outcomes for clients.
  • Can evidence how experimental and responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency.
