Function Overview
We offer a range of internship opportunities across different departments and locations within our Wholesale Bank. This vacancy focuses on positions within the TRM department.
The Trading Risk Management (TRM) team plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s financial health by identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling exposure to market-driven risks. TRM oversees and supports Financial Markets (FM) desks—such as Rates, FX, Credit, Commodities, and Non-Linear Trading—as well as Group Treasury (GT), which is primarily responsible for managing assets and liabilities, funding and liquidity needs, interest rate risk, and investment risk in the banking book.
The internship will provide exposure to the following areas across either the FM or GT/ALM desk:
- Gain an understanding of the desk’s business and how the risk framework is designed to govern and control its activities
- Assist with daily risk reporting and monitoring key market risk metrics, such as Value-at-Risk (VaR) and sensitivities in trading books, as well as interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and FX exposures in banking books
- Assist with the preparation of management and regulatory reports covering trading risk or Treasury/ALM risk
- Track macroeconomic events and market movements that may impact risk positions
- Support system and process enhancement initiatives
- Assist the team in specific risk analyses as required
Skills & Specifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance, economics, statistics, quantitative finance, or a related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail
- A strong interest in understanding how banks manage financial risks
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Excel; some VBA coding/programming knowledge is a plus
