The Finance Department provides insightful and timely financial information to ING’s leadership and external stakeholders. This enables ING’s management to make sound financial decisions and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage through:

  • Empowering ING’s managers and stakeholders to plan, forecast, control, and continuously optimize financial performance by providing timely, accurate, and relevant financial information and decision support.
  • Providing financial accounting and regulatory reporting in full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, achieving best-in-class finance ownership by efficiently and flawlessly managing operational activities.
  • Enforcing and coordinating rigorous financial controls, bank-wide governance and reporting to establish cost transparency, proactively managing financial performance against clear targets, and instilling a cost-conscious culture across the organization.

  • Managing the High-Quality Liquid Asset (HQLA) portfolio.
  • Executing interest rate hedging strategies to mitigate balance sheet risk.
  • Advising business lines on funding, pricing, and balance sheet implications of new and existing products.

Internship Program

This internship program targets exceptional candidates. It is a pipeline program where successful interns may receive a full-time offer to return the following year or may be selected to follow an 18-month rotational professional development program within the Finance & Group Treasury Departments.

ING is looking for a dynamic, eager intern excited to learn about any (or all) of the following departments within the ING Americas Finance Department. This role provides broad financial exposure with active engagement across routine activities and special projects in partnership with the organization.

Local Regulatory Reporting (Finance, New York)

The Local Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for regulatory and financial reporting for ING’s Swap Dealer (ING Capital Markets (INGCM)) and ING’s US Broker Dealer (ING Financial Markets LLC (INGFM)). Team members report to external regulators on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis, as well as on an ad hoc basis. They also prepare internal deliverables to ensure the quality and review of external filings.

  • INGCM is a registered Swap Dealer with the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a security-based swap dealer. INGCM is generally the sole ING entity authorized to enter into swaps with US clients, principally institutional clients, corporates, bank and non-bank financial institutions, as well as corporate lending clients of affiliates. INGCM provides customer facilitation services for interest rate, credit, equity, commodity, and foreign exchange swaps. INGCM became a registered standalone US Swap Dealer and must comply with CFTC capital, financial, and regulatory reporting rules.

  • INGFM is a registered broker-dealer with the SEC, a member of FINRA, a member of SIPC, and a member of various exchanges. The company primarily provides customer facilitation services for equity and fixed income securities, securities lending activities, repurchase and resale transactions, underwriting services, and clearing and custodial services for ING’s affiliates.

Financial Accounting & EU Regulatory Reporting

The Financial Accounting (FA) team is dedicated to maintaining a holistic and robust reporting environment, supported by accurate financial data and a strong control framework. The team ensures the proper presentation of financial and regulatory reporting for applicable entities in alignment with ING Group policies and procedures, as well as relevant accounting and regulatory frameworks.

The team works closely with Front Office, Treasury, Risk, and Finance to validate valuations, analyze daily and monthly profit and loss, review pricing models and adjustments, support new product approvals, and strengthen the control environment. Product Control plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and in analyzing key drivers of P&L results to help the business make more informed decisions.

Policies & Procedures

The Policies & Procedures team interprets and applies US and European accounting standards and regulatory reporting rules, and guides the firm to meet new rules and changes in rules. The team also provides proactive advice on how standards and requirements affect the firm’s business and drive optimization in how ING complies with external requirements.

The team conducts quality assurance activities on ING New York’s financial reports, testing compliance with standards and requirements and recommending improvements to reporting processes.

Tax Reporting and Strategy

The Tax Department manages ING’s domestic and international tax function in the Americas. The Tax Department advises on the tax implications of transactions and tax strategies for businesses within the region and with the parent bank in Amsterdam. Day-to-day, the Tax Department manages ING’s US tax accounting and tax compliance requirements and represents ING before various tax authorities that audit ING’s tax returns in the region.
