Role Overview

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Guy Carpenter. This role is based in New York, NY and is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week in the office.

This position supports reinsurance actuarial services by working with brokers, performing risk analyses, guiding junior team members, and maintaining key client and market relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with brokers regarding client needs and advise on reinsurance programs based on risk tolerance and industry trends.
  • Perform calculations using specialty models and client data to assess risk exposures and project outcomes.
  • Review client data for reasonableness, load data into predictive models, run analyses, and share results with brokers to support the reinsurance transaction process.
  • Direct junior team members in analyzing industry and regulatory developments that may affect loss liabilities and client outcomes.
  • Independently build more complex MetaRisk analyses and use the model to explain assumptions and results.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and clients to support new business development in reinsurance actuarial services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Economics, Accounting, Physics, or a related field.
  • Curious, proactive, and growth-oriented mindset, with the ability to lead internal initiatives and research projects to completion.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable terms for brokers and clients.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach, with proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 1+ year of experience or internship in insurance or reinsurance.
  • Actuarial exams and familiarity with R, Python, SQL, Alteryx, or Power BI.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Applicable base salary range: $68,800 to $113,600.
  • Base pay is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements; decisions are made case-by-case.
  • This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives in addition to base salary.
  • Total rewards package may include health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings and other retirement programs, and employee assistance programs.
