Compre has spent over 30 years acquiring and managing non-life insurance and reinsurance portfolios that other insurers exit, rather than underwriting new business itself:

• Institutionally owned: private equity firm Cinven and Canadian pension manager BCI agreed to acquire a majority stake from CBPE Capital, Hudson Structured and Compre's own management in November 2020, a deal that closed in 2021 (Reinsurance News)
• Mid-market and long-tail specialist: focuses on mid-market portfolios and US long-tail classes including asbestos, pollution and health hazard (APH), construction defect, and workers' compensation
• Narrow, deliberate footprint: operates from Bermuda, Finland, Germany, London, Malta, Switzerland and the US, plus a Lloyd's presence, rather than a broad global platform
• Recently active: completed the legal transfer of a European casualty and motor liability portfolio from Ethias S.A., Belgium's third-largest insurer, in May 2025

For an early-career applicant this is a narrower, more technical seat than a front-line insurer: the work is claims handling, actuarial reserving and portfolio integration on books already written elsewhere, inside a small number of jurisdictions rather than a broad graduate rotation.
