Job Description

The Teller I works in a TD Store location and plays a key role in delivering legendary customer experiences while processing everyday banking transactions with accuracy and efficiency, and educating customers on TD's products and services or referring them to a partner for specialized solutions.

Depth & Scope

  • Executes TD's Brand promise to customers by consistently delivering a Legendary Customer experience in the Store.
  • Performs customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan and safe deposit box payments efficiently.
  • Processes cash transactions such as cashing checks, verifying currency, balancing cash drawer, and night deposits with high accuracy.
  • Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and concerns using standard procedures, escalating to management as necessary.
  • Engages in lobby leadership by guiding customer flow, warmly welcoming customers, and directing them appropriately.
  • Understands customer preferences and educates on self-service/digital options that meet their needs.
  • Acts as an advocate for the customer by conducting needs-based conversations; offering financial and digital solutions, and referring to the appropriate partner when needed.
  • Makes sound decisions and provides timely problem resolution, escalating more difficult issues to management.
  • Ensures compliance with operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act) to minimize risk and protect the customer.
  • Verifies customers' identities by following authentication policies and procedures.
  • Balances cash drawers, ATMs, and Teller Cash Dispensers/Recyclers as necessary.
  • Adheres to safe deposit box procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible and accountable for cash drawers and vaults, maintaining appropriate cash limits and securing cash at all times.
  • Ensures confidential customer information is securely stored throughout the day.
  • Understands the importance of and follows dual control.
  • Follows security and audit measures to minimize potential loss.
  • Utilizes bank tools and processes to detect, address, and prevent fraud.
  • Completes all required in-classroom and online training by established due dates.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of work-related experience preferred; or equivalent demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience
  • Ability to work during operating hours to include weekends, evenings, holidays as scheduled
  • Demonstrated customer service skills preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to be concise, clear, and consistent
