Santander runs its early-career programs under a Future Talent banner, split between globally-recruited schemes and country-specific tracks. The main global routes are:

• Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) Summer Internship: an 8-week program spanning Global Banking, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking, running June/July to August/September across offices in Europe, Asia and the US
• Retail Graduate Program: a 12-month global rotation focused on digital product
• Corporate & Investment Banking Graduate Program: a 12-month program across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the US

Beyond these, country-specific programs run in the US (including a 10-week corporate internship and a 2-year CIB analyst program), the UK, Spain, Brazil and Mexico, among others. Because a handful of schemes are recruited globally while many others are country-specific with their own timelines, the right entry point depends as much on where an applicant can legally work as on the function—two people both targeting "Santander" may be applying to entirely different programs, so it pays to pin down the specific country program early rather than the group banner.

Santander applies "degree neutrality" to its programs, and in January 2023 its UK arm removed the 2:1 degree requirement for graduate roles, opening applications regardless of degree subject or classification. Its early-career footprint is unusually broad: programs run across Europe, the US, Latin America—including the group's large operations in Brazil and Mexico—and the UK, reflecting its standing as one of the largest retail and commercial banks in the euro area and Latin America. Several tracks deliberately recruit from non-finance disciplines such as engineering, mathematics, computer science and humanities for data, technology and product roles. For an applicant without a finance background or a top degree classification, this widens which Santander programs are realistically in reach compared with banks that screen hard on subject or grades—so it can be worth one of a limited set of applications precisely where a stricter competitor would screen the same candidate out.
