Role Overview

The Financial Advisor Associate (FAA) works with TD Wealth prospects and clients to attract and retain clients by addressing their wealth management advisory needs. The FAA will meet with prospects and clients to analyze their financial information, including income, cash flow, assets and liabilities, and to understand their short and long-term financial goals. They educate and advise on investment and insurance strategies and products, and recommend personalized strategies to meet financial and wealth creation objectives.

The successful candidate must possess broad knowledge and the ability to inform, educate, and advise clients on financial analysis, markets, goals, investment and insurance strategies, and wealth management. They should have strong interpersonal skills to develop a thorough understanding of each client’s circumstances and serve as the client’s advisor. As a fiduciary, the FAA will put the client’s financial interests first when providing ongoing objective financial advice, retirement planning, and annual reviews to adjust strategies as needed. The FAA manages all aspects of developing and maintaining client relationships through ongoing consultation, advice, planning, and day-to-day account servicing.

The FAA will rely on relationship-building and influence to develop their client base and meet assigned goals. Working within an assigned territory, the FAA will educate and coach Retail Store staff to identify referral prospects and will identify enterprise opportunities and engage key partners across the organization as appropriate.

Depth & Scope

  • Serves as the primary relationship manager and financial advisor for TD Wealth clients with a wealth management advisory need
  • Develops, maintains, and manages all aspects of the client’s relationship with TD Wealth
  • Works with prospects to attract and develop clients and address their wealth management advisory needs
  • Analyzes client and prospect financial information to determine appropriate investment and insurance strategies and provides individualized financial advice
  • Builds a client base through ongoing acquisition of new clients
  • Educates and advises prospects and clients on investment and insurance strategies and products
  • Retains and grows the client base through relationship management and ongoing communication
  • Recommends personalized investment and insurance strategies to meet client objectives
  • Meets quarterly and annual objectives
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Money Guide Pro, and other approved software to track client engagement and provide advice
  • Ensures a complete onboarding experience for new clients, including discovery, financial needs analysis, and onboarding documentation
  • Provides education and coaching to Retail and Small Business staff
  • Implements a process for periodic ongoing contacts and an Annual Client Review (ACR) with an enhanced agenda focused on the client’s wealth planning needs
  • Deepens wallet share by anticipating client needs and suggesting Wealth solutions
  • Identifies opportunities within the portfolio and network to refer business to Retail and Small Business/Commercial Partners
  • Ensures compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Adheres to all applicable regulations and firm policies (e.g., OCC, SEC, State Insurance Commissioners, NY DFS, etc.)
  • Maintains Continuing Education requirements
  • Understands and adheres to TD Bank & TD Wealth Policies and Procedures
  • Implements TD’s Customer Identification Program (CIP) and performs Customer Due Diligence per AML procedures
  • Develops understanding of client assets and transitions higher-threshold clients to appropriate HNW partners as needed
  • Fosters a positive work environment and supports the Wealth team
  • Contributes as a team member and mentor to new FAAs
  • Represents TD Wealth professionally to the public
  • Engages in community involvement and supports TD Bank/TD Wealth initiatives

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience in financial services, relevant degree, or completion of the FAA Trainee program
  • SIE & Series 7 required
  • Required to have L&H and Series 66 (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain them within the Licensing and Registration Schedule
  • Self-directed with strong ability to plan activities to achieve sales and referral goals
  • Comprehensive understanding of wealth products and services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to travel within the assigned market to meet prospects, clients, and partners five days a week
  • Ability to commute within the assigned territory
  • Understanding of wealth management business development techniques
  • Understanding and experience interacting with retail and small business banking clients
  • Consultative sales experience required
  • Ability to establish relationships and partner effectively with other departments

  • This position is with a FINRA member, broker and/or dealer and is subject to FINRA requirements. May (or may not) be a registered position under FINRA.
  • Must be eligible for employment under FINRA standards. Subject to verification requirements of FINRA Rule 3110(e), including investigation of character, qualifications, and experience before applying to register with FINRA and filing Form U4, and verification of information on Form U4 within 30 calendar days after filing.
  • Satisfactory results on criminal background check, credit report check, civil litigation search, and regulatory action search are required by federal law for this position.
