Program Overview

Jefferies’ Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program provides Summer Analysts with the opportunity to gain experience across an array of investment banking products and industries and to build lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior bankers. The lean deal team structure allows Summer Analysts to participate actively on pitches and live deals, performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets. Interns are encouraged to think creatively, contribute ideas, and add value from day one. Summer Analysts pursue projects with excellence, collaboration, and integrity.

Summer Analysts focus on real-life on-the-job learning, with colleagues serving as instructors and mentors. Each participant reviews professional development and receives detailed feedback over the 10-week program. Students in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date of October 2027 – June 2028 may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial valuation, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses
• Build and maintain financial models
• Prepare pitchbooks and live deal materials, such as offering memorandums and prospectuses
• Conduct industry and product research
• Analyze detailed corporate and financial information
• Participate in the execution of financings and M&A transactions

What We Look For

Successful Summer Analysts are able to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously. There are opportunities to work on projects in Southeast Asia and greater China. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism and client management skills, along with strong technical, written, and verbal communication abilities. The role is fast-paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, adaptability, and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team are essential.

Academic requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.6 (or equivalent) and being in the penultimate year of study (second year of a three-year degree or third year of a four-year degree or equivalent). While a background in accounting or finance is helpful, interns from various disciplines are hired. Proficiency in Asian languages is an advantage.

Investment Banking – Hong Kong

The Jefferies Hong Kong Investment Banking team focuses on origination and execution of equity and M&A transactions for Greater China and Asia clients. Our presence in Greater China and Asia has strong deal momentum, and we continue to leverage this for M&A, initial public offerings, and equity fundraises, including cross-border financing across sectors in the region. We have led in US IPOs for Chinese issuers in biopharmaceutical and biotechnology, and built a prominent China franchise in Healthcare and Technology sectors, supported by Senior Sponsor Bank roles in high-profile Hong Kong IPOs.

We have recently added experienced sector and coverage senior bankers to grow our Asia franchise. The Investment Banking team collaborates closely with teams in New York, London, Japan, Singapore and other regional offices as one global team for cross-border transactions. Jefferies’ Hong Kong platform leverages our global resources and network to capitalize on ongoing growth in Greater China and Asia.
