Job Description
Bank of America is seeking an Equity Research Analyst/Associate to support one of our Senior Biotechnology Analysts. The team covers AI-enabled drug discovery, gene editing, and oncology. Candidates should have strong familiarity with the Biotechnology industry, ideally gained through experience in equity research, investment banking, or consulting. An advanced scientific degree (PhD or MD) or MBA/CFA is desired but not required.
As a Research Analyst/Associate you will perform extensive fundamental research and analysis of biotechnology companies and their various industries/market segments. You will create, maintain, and update detailed financial models, acquire in-depth industry expertise, and contribute to the team’s written product. In addition to coverage of publicly traded companies, the team regularly vets private biotech companies for potential follow-ons and IPOs. The candidate will work closely with the Senior Analyst in all aspects of the research process, from idea generation to modeling, including but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch.
- Perform complex financial modeling and valuation work.
- Develop databases integral to our research product.
- Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment.
- Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes.
- Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies.
- Participate and contribute to client meetings and events.
- Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders.
- Closely follow and understand market, industry, and company-specific activity, and relay to the analyst when traveling.
- Seek out new, unusual sources of information.
- Leverage our robust network of industry contacts.
- Interact regularly with clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA, or CFA) is a distinct advantage.
- 1–3 years of work experience, ideally in a non-academic setting such as the biopharma industry, equity research, investment banking, or consulting.
- Strong writing and spreadsheet skills. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn.
- Enjoy working in industry databases and websites, and conducting desktop and field research.
- Strong modeling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.

This is an in-office role reporting to our NYC financial center (One Bryant Park).

Pay Transparency details
Pay range: $70,000.00 – $175,000.00 annualized salary. Offers determined based on experience, education, and skill set.
