About the Team
Global Corporate Banking focuses on relationship management of global, large-cap corporate and financial institution clients. The team manages day-to-day relationships as well as origination of new business, with responsibility for delivering financing, treasury, and risk management advice and execution to clients globally.
Programme Overview
The Summer Analyst programme is designed to provide a broad and exciting experience of what it is like to work as a full-time Corporate Banking analyst. During the summer, you will be pooled across three London Corporate Banking teams: UK & Ireland Corporate Coverage, Financial Institutions Coverage, and Global Subsidiary Coverage. You will work across a diverse range of industries and products.
Training and Development
Your training and development are a top priority, with extensive formal training at the start of the programme, along with on-the-job support, educational speaker events, and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
- Assist Global Corporate Banking professionals in relationship management, origination, and execution across a diverse set of product areas, including Loan & Bond financing, Foreign Exchange (FX) and Interest Rate Derivatives, and Cash Management.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of clients, their industries, and how the bank supports both their growth aspirations and day-to-day banking requirements.
- Provide market-informed judgments on a broad array of financing strategies to address clients’ specific needs.
- Help prepare detailed financial models and analytical presentations to provide advice across the capital structure.
- Become proficient in credit analysis and the metrics used to price and structure various debt instruments.
- Gain familiarity with the legal and documentation aspects of various debt instruments.
- Work on live transactions and interact with clients as you build your network and experience.
- Support the generation of ideas and cross-selling opportunities for new and existing clients.
- Assist in the development of client-specific analysis (e.g., capital structure, acquisition finance).
- Work closely with Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and Global Transaction Services teams on client coverage and origination.
Eligibility
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a completion time frame between June 2027 and July 2028.
- Completion means completing all final exams and coursework, with no outstanding requirements for graduation.
- May be asked to provide evidence of completion date before an offer is extended.
- Should be on track for at least a 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
- Applications accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines, including arts and humanities, as well as numerically focused subjects such as economics and mathematics.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Interns who perform well may be offered full-time employment to commence in July 2028.
- Some lines of business may offer a January or April start date. If offered, you must be available to join on one of these dates; deferrals cannot be offered.
