MFS campus recruiting runs four early-career tracks out of its Boston headquarters:

• Co-op program: a six-month placement for undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a co-op program, in two cycles per year (January to June and July to December).
• Internship program: a summer internship running May through August for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Rotational Development Program (RDP): a 24-month structured rotation for new graduates with the goal of placement into a permanent role at the firm on completion.

For each campus track, MFS publishes the recruitment window rather than fixed dates:

• Co-op (January to June placement): recruitment opens September of the prior year.

• Summer internship (May to August placement): recruitment opens in the fall of the prior year.
• RDP and Legal Fellowship: openings post on the MFS Workday portal on the firm's own timeline rather than against a published season.

Three of the four windows therefore concentrate in autumn (September through November of the prior year), so a student targeting both the spring co-op and the summer internship is preparing two applications inside the same eight-week window. The February co-op opening is the one slot that runs against a quieter recruiting backdrop and competes for a smaller pool of campus attention.

Three things differ from peers. First, MFS launched the first US open-end mutual fund — Massachusetts Investors Trust, on 21 March 1924 — and was the first to publish investor reports (1926), among the earliest to build an in-house research function (1932), and the firm that helped draft the Investment Company Act of 1940; the company turned 100 in 2024. Second, MFS has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canada's Sun Life Financial since 1982, which means a long-tenure, traditional-active employer structure (no PE owner, no IPO calendar, no major M&A overhang) rather than a public asset manager with quarterly stock-price exposure. Third, the firm is fundamental-active and equity-and-fixed-income only: there is no private credit, private equity, or alternatives platform, so an early-career hire is committing to the traditional active discipline rather than a multi-asset alts career. For a candidate weighing this against, say, a BlackRock or T. Rowe analyst seat, MFS is the unusually pure long-only active option.
